See the latest updates on our GDPR compliance journey before the Big Day.

Have you lost your count on how many GDPR emails you’ve received in the past weeks? Great! Cause we have, too. That’s because businesses and marketers are now running against the clock to make sure their organizations are becoming GDPR compliant.

The new General Data Protection Regulation is coming into effect on May 25, and we, at Insider, have been on a long journey to make sure we comply with this new transformational and much-needed data privacy regulation. This new regulation is not really a legal novelty, it comes as a reworking of the previous directive from 1995, which is outdated, and has actually been around since 2016. In its core, it seeks to give back the control of data to their real owners: users, or data subjects, in GDPR terms.

These are some of the actions we’ve taken to show our compliance and how much we take data seriously.

  • We’ve updated our Privacy Policy and our Product Privacy Policy according to GDPR’s terms.
  • We’ve updated our cookie policy, which you can access in our Privacy Policy.
  • We have a new Data Protection Addendum (DPA), which can be accessed and downloaded via our GDPR tab on our homepage.

On top of these crucial changes, we cleared the language in all our policies, making them accessible and inclusive for all users. We have security training on the way and our whole team is working hard to make sure we’re up to speed with the GDPR, providing our partners and their customers with the best and effective support. If you’re curious about all these changes, you can follow them up on our GDPR tab (which we’re constantly updating) and our Compliance page.

A few weeks ago, we also hosted an interesting (and much-needed) webinar session with Attorney-at-Law and legal consultant, Tomasz Będźmirowski, our European legal expert based in Poland. We provided our audience with a unique opportunity to get all their questions answered as we answered our questions ourselves as well.

The webinar discussed main issues the GDPR is looking to regulate, such as the types of data and actors under its scope (data subjects, collectors, and processors). Tomasz clarified how the GDPR will affect customer experiences beyond the EU territory, as the legislation travels with EU data subjects. We also discussed the cultural and legal implications of GDPR for tech companies attending to a global market, highlighting the cross-border tensions between data storing and processing. Did we get you curious? You can watch our webinar GDPR and the Age of the Customer: A Conversation with Attorney-at-Law Tomasz Będźmirowski anytime and follow the whole discussion in detail.

Our GDPR journey and further actions taken towards data privacy reflect our engagement not only to the GDPR but to our holistic approach to technology. For us, living in the era of Big Data mining and complex cybernetic transformations, this new legal approach brings a unique opportunity to embrace the Age of the Customer and provide new technologies that are deeply rooted in a culture that understands and takes data matters very seriously.
